A new module was added to REGINA3 in version 3.10 at the request of several users to be able to enter the slide numbers for those animals for which all slides have to be shipped to Fraunhofer ITA. These are animals which belong to the group of 10% randomly selected animals, and animals which have systemic tumours. To activate the optional slide number data entry module, press F2=Data Entry on the main screen and select the "Optional slide numbers" option. Alternatively, as a short-cut, you can press the O key on the main screen.
REGINA3 displays the "animal selection box" on the screen and lists only those animals which are relevant for the current task. Besides the animal number, the company animal number, the sex, and the group are displayed. Animals are marked in the right column with either "%" or "Sys". Please note: If a particular animal belongs to the "10% group" and also has a systemic tumour, it is marked with "%" only.
You select an animal by either using the cursor keys to scroll up or down or by entering the animal number. Press Enter to confirm your selection. REGINA3 then displays a list of organs (specific for the sex of the selected animal) and you can enter the slide numbers in the right column.
Please note
- In the header of the organ selection box, the animal number and the two markers "%" and/or "Sys" are displayed.
- Use the scrolling keys (Up, Down, PageUp, PageDown, etc.) to select an organ. You can also use the "Find facility" (available in all selection boxes) by pressing Alt+F: The cursor is now visible in the "Find line" and if you enter the first few characters of an organ name, the content of the selection box is scrolled. Pressing Enter or any cursor key takes you back to the organ line to enter the slide numbers.
- Organs which are listed in upper case characters are those for which no finding was entered (you can add additional slide numbers for these organs only).
- Organs for which findings already exist are shown in lower case characters (at the end of the listing). The slide numbers which you have entered, together with your findings, are displayed, but you are not able to modify this information in this module.
- Organs which have been declared as protocol organs are marked with a "diamond".
- Organs for which slides have to be supplied for the RITA panel, if the animal has a systemic tumour, are marked with the symbol "!!". These are: bone marrow, kidney, liver, lung, lymph nodes, pancreas, spleen, thymus, uterus. Please see also chapter 9 "Rules for entering systemic tumours".
- If you have set up a block list you can press the F8 key to automatically insert the slide number(s) for the particular organ. You can also press F9 to insert the animal number only. If the data entry field already contains information and you press F8 or F9, REGINA3 appends a new slide number instead of overwriting existing data.
- If you have not set up a block list, you can still press the F8 key: REGINA3 inserts the animal number followed by a dash (-) and three asterisks. You need to edit this information and replace the asterisks by a valid block number. Otherwise REGINA3 displays an error message.
- To add a staining method to the slide number, move the cursor to the end of the slide number and press the dot key: REGINA3 displays the staining method selection box in a pop-up window for your selection. Please refer to chapter 5 "Adding the staining method to the slide number" for more details.
- If you enter more than one slide number, remember that slide numbers have to be separated by a semicolon (;) or a comma. Commas automatically are converted to semicolons. Leading or trailing commas/semicolons are also removed.
- Do not forget to press F10 at the end to store the entered data to disk.
